Description from the seller
Aat Verhoog (1933) is a Dutch painter, graphic artist and sculptor, belonging to the Nieuwe Haagse School. His work almost always revolves around the human figure, where he combines everyday scenes with a mysterious, almost theatrical atmosphere. Verhoog often paints people in carefully constructed compositions that evoke stage sets or classical stories. Mythology, literature and memories form an important source of inspiration. His style balances between realism and imagination, with bright colors, refined details and a subtle tension between dream and reality. In addition to paintings, he also made lithographs and bronze sculptures, in which the same tranquil and narrative visual language reappears.
Dimensions with frame: 71 x 91 cm
Dimensions without frame: 53 x 67 cm
The work is on view in our gallery. Furthermore, Art Dumay operates a framery (this year their 85th anniversary) and a restoration workshop. So if you would like to make use of these, of course we would be pleased to hear from you.
