IW3702 Titanium Chronograph, presented in 1980, with automatic movement, a 42 mm titanium case, sapphire crystal, day-date and chronograph functions, and a titanium bracelet 17 cm long.
Description from the seller
The Titanium Chronograph introduced in 1980 was the first titanium wristwatch. It's hard to believe now, given the abundance of titanium models, but at the time it was a major novelty. No one used titanium back then: it was an expensive material, difficult to work with and used exclusively in the aerospace industry. The engineers at IWC accepted the challenge and developed new techniques for processing this exotic material; they thus realized Porsche Design's vision, which aimed for a chronograph with a refined and minimalist look.
The watch was not only an innovation in terms of materials. The push-buttons were also integrated in an excellent way (in line with a design still used today in the Porsche Design Monobloc Actuator series) and the titanium bracelet was perfectly in tune with the watch’s aesthetics. It was this watch that definitively brought the collaboration between Porsche Design and IWC to light, dispelling any doubt about the outstanding competence of both companies. The first series does not feature the Porsche Design logo.
Diameter of the case: 42 mm. Sapphire crystal. Screw-down case back. Automatic movement, Day-Date function and chronograph. Bracelet length: 17 cm. Insured and traceable shipping.
