AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

AIR COMMAND is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the aesthetics of vintage military aviation posters, mid-century propaganda illustrations, and the heroic imaginary of the mid-20th century.

The work depicts an aviation pilot beside a classic propeller aircraft, evoking the spirit of adventure, courage, and aerial exploration inherent to historical aviation. The composition conveys strength, determination, and visual nostalgia, connecting the classic aeronautical universe with a contemporary graphic language.

Flavia Delgado blends influences from pop art, classic comics, and vintage editorial illustration, evoking the old illustrated covers and graphic advertisements of the 1950s and 1960s. The bold black lines, simplified forms, and frontal composition recall retro aviation posters and period visual campaigns.

The color palette, dominated by intense reds, sand tones, and deep blacks, creates a powerful, cinematic image. The pilot appears as an iconic and almost monumental figure, reinforcing the sense of pride, discipline, and adventurous spirit.

AIR COMMAND is a work that combines historical nostalgia, graphic design, and American retro aesthetics, imparting character, visual impact, and contemporary personality to any space.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
