Description from the seller

An elegant and refined antique silver cigarette case (or matchbox/tabacchiera) in 800 silver, splendidly decorated with the complex niello technique.

Origin: Austria (bearing the clearly visible hallmark "AUSTRIA FINE '800" and the silversmith's marks "FB" inside).
Era: Late 19th century / Early 20th century (Art Nouveau / Vienna Secession period).

Decorative features:
- Front: Decorated with an elegant floral and botanical motif incised on a black niellated background, with a smooth central shield (cartouche), originally intended for personalization or engraving of noble initials.
- Back and sides: Entirely covered by a hypnotic, dense geometric scroll/curved-line motif in damascene/Caucasian style, typical of high-era craftsmanship.

Conditions: Excellent overall condition consistent with the object's age. The hinge is sturdy and the clasp closes with a perfect snap, firm and functional. It presents a beautiful natural patina of time that enhances its historical charm.

Technical details:
- Material: 900 silver (stamped and tested)
- Total weight: 99 grams
- Dimensions: 10 cm x 7 cm x 1.7 cm

A collectible piece of great elegance, perfect to enrich a display of European silverware or as an exclusive gift for antique collectors.

Shipping: Careful, trackable, and insured shipping across Europe.
