Antonio Del Donno (1927–2020) – Painter, sculptor, photographer.

Born in Benevento, he trained among geometry, the Art High School (Liceo Artistico) and the Academy of Fine Arts. In the 1960s, influenced by Rauschenberg and Pop Art, he developed an anti-academic language that fuses gestural painting and objects. He created cycles such as Vangeli (wood and iron), Contenitori di luce, and Tagliole.

He participated in the Venice Biennales, the Rome Quadriennials, and in 252 exhibitions in 24 countries. His works are in MoMA in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the Vatican Museums, and in various Italian museums (including the Museo Del Donno in Santa Croce del Sannio).

Fundamental connection with Mimmo Paladino, who introduced him to contemporary art. In 2019 he was named Knight of the Republic; in 2018 RAI 3 defined him as one of the 100 most important artists in the world.
