Anton Heyboer, Haven, an original etching from 1985 in the 1980–1990 period, handsigned, framed, 43 × 52 cm, produced in the Netherlands, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer’s etchings are often simple and direct, with rough, sketch-like lines and strong contrasts. He works quickly and intuitively, with the graphic character of scratches and incisions remaining visible. As a result, his boats take on mainly an emotional, symbolic meaning rather than a realistic depiction.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Due to his unconventional lifestyle, Anton Heyboer was among the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent life manifested in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world', referring to his high artistic productivity. Heyboer was trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, though still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on which his abstract works were based. Yet figurative elements always remain present in his paintings and etchings. He also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Framed dimensions: 43 x 52 cm
Unframed dimensions: 30 x 39 cm
Framed work.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the industry association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to use this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
