Description from the seller
This is a famous and beautiful photograph by the great American artist Ruth Orkin, entitled "Mist over the sheep meadown New York City". A famous shot, dated 1971, truly beautiful and poignant, a panorama of the great American city difficult to see and imagine, almost unreal.
This photograph is "printed later", dated 1995, printed by the renowned Snoeck Ducaju & Zoon in Ghent, Belgium, of course with the authorization of the Ruth Orkin Photo Archive.
In 1995, on the occasion of an exhibition or of an important European publication dedicated to Ruth Orkin, Snoeck’s printing house had to calibrate its machinery so that the fog and the tones of "Mist over the sheep meadow" would be printed perfectly. To do this, the technicians at the printing house would receive from the Ruth Orkin Photo Archive an official reference photographic print (or an archival internegative/slide), would develop reproductions on photographic paper directly in their laboratories to compare the rendering of the grays and the chemical details with what the subsequent industrial prints would have, then often numbered and sold.
Excellent condition, dimensions 26x17 cm, glued to heavy cardboard.
