Description from the seller
Mel Ramos – “Barbiburger”, 2006
Offered is “Barbiburger” by Mel Ramos, one of the distinctive motifs from the 2000s.
Mel Ramos is among the well-known representatives of American Pop Art. His works combine pin-up aesthetics, consumer culture, advertising and iconic everyday motifs. Exactly this typical visual language is also visible in “Barbiburger”: an idealized female figure is paired with an oversized burger — a classic Ramos theme between pop culture, consumer world and ironical exaggeration.
The piece is not an ordinary paper print, but an offset print on embossed metal. Through the curved metal surface, the small format gains an object-like effect and appears more like a Pop Art multiple than a classic print. Precisely the combination of motif, material and format makes the work decorative, unusual and collectible.
The regular edition comprises 50 copies. Additionally there exists a small H.C. edition of 10 copies. The work offered here is H.C. 9/10.
Specially positive: The work is sold together with a gallery invoice. The invoice documents artist, title, year, technique, format and edition.
