Arnout Jacobus Gustaaf Colnot (Amsterdam, January 26, 1887 – Bergen (NH), July 14, 1983) was a Dutch painter, graphic artist, draftsman and lithographer. He is considered part of the Bergense School. From 1913 to 1932 he lived in Bergen, North Holland, where many artists worked in the Bergense School style during that period. Between 1943 and 1969 he lived in Amsterdam, after which he settled in Bergen again towards the end of his life.
Colnot made several artist trips, including to Bruges and Paris. He was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam and of the Vereeniging Sint Lucas. His work displays the characteristic qualities of the Bergense School: figurative scenes with cubist influences and an expressionist touch in dark tones. His work is held in various museum collections.
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition we have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. We also work with restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this service, we would be happy to hear from you.
