Around the work:
Many influences emanate from the photographer Ruslan Lobanov’s work, including cinema, fashion, but also and above all the provocative eroticism of the sacred monster Helmut Newton. A fervent admirer of the Australian photographer, Ruslan Lobanov is also known for his black-and-white nude photographs. Behind each shot, the staging and the attitude of the characters tell a story whose ending is for each person to interpret.
About the artist:
Ruslan Lobanov is one of the most influential artists in Eastern Europe. When he photographs female nudes, he draws inspiration from cinema and fashion and creates erotic photographs in which the sensuous bodies of women are displayed without restraint. Breaking with established codes, these women embody a feminine freedom that earned the photographer a distinction in Beverly Hills at the International Color Awards in 2015, and they feature in notable collaborations with Playboy and L’Officiel, as well as with the cosmetics group L’Oréal.
Ruslan is one of the best photographers of the twentieth century, alongside Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Philippe Halsman, Elliott Erwitt, Annie Leibovitz, or Robert Capa.
