About the artist
Monirul Islam, known as Monir, is an internationally exhibited artist and printmaker, active in Spain for much of his career. He is especially recognised for his distinctive graphic language: delicate lines, subtle colour fields, birds, signs and abstract poetic forms.

Monir has developed a highly personal style in etching and works on paper, sometimes referred to in Spain as the “Escuela de Monir”. His work has been shown internationally, including exhibitions in Spain, England, the United States, the Netherlands, Turkey, Kuwait, India, Egypt and Pakistan, with solo exhibitions noted in cities such as Madrid, New York, Boston and Washington. He has also participated in group exhibitions across five continents.

This print, Palomas, is a strong example of his mature graphic style, combining birds, movement and atmospheric space in a refined composition. A delicate and colourful work with bird motifs, typical of Monir’s poetic graphic style.
