Description from the seller
This photo was taken by the Italian‑French photographer Walter Carone (1920‑1982) and shows the iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve. Deneuve made her film debut at the age of thirteen in Les Collégiennes (1956), adopting her mother's maiden name. She gained international fame in 1964 with her role in Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. From that moment she grew into one of the leading actresses of French cinema and one of the biggest stars of the international film world in the sixties.
Walter Carone was known for his refined portraits of celebrities and his reportage from the early editions of the Cannes Film Festival. Between 1945 and the mid‑1960s he produced more than 10,000 high‑quality photographs for various French publishers. These prints were printed by Starck Gallery and form a stylish tribute to both the glamour of cinema and to the classical portrait photography of the twentieth century.
Dimensions: 70 x 70 cm
Dimensions with frame: 72 x 72 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in‑house framers, celebrating their 85th anniversary year. Furthermore we make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear."}
