Montegrappa Series 300 fountain pen in blue night marbled resin with a two-tone 18k gold nib (size M), 23k gold-plated metal fittings, 14 cm long, 12 mm in diameter, weighing 30 g, made in Italy in the 1990s, in good overall condition with two minor cosmetic blemishes and in working order.
Description from the seller
Lot Description
Brand: Montegrappa
Model: Series 300 (Historic Line)
Type: Fountain pen
Nib: Solid 18-carat gold (750), bi-tone, Medium (M) nib
Material: Octagonal cap and body in blue night marbled precious resin, grip section and metal fittings coated with rich 23-carat gold plating
Weight: 30 g
Year of purchase: 2009 (Model produced in the 1990s)
Condition: Excellent overall conservation, with two minor cosmetic imperfections noted in the description.
Detailed Description:
I am offering at auction the fountain pen counterpart of the Montegrappa Series 300 model. This iconic line from the 1990s reinterprets the historic design of the 1937 “402” model. It features a remarkable bi-tone 18k solid gold nib engraved with the classic motifs of the Bassano Del Grappa manufacture.
The body and cap are shaped in a deep blue night marbled resin with azure reflections. The metal grip section and fittings benefit from a high-end finish of the era: a 23-carat gold plating by electrochemical deposition.
History and Detailed Condition:
Purchased in 2009 from the same owner as the ballpoint version (see my other auction listings). The original booklet is also unused with stamp (the pen likely came from a former stock of watchmaking/papermaking unsold). The pen has been very well preserved, the feed is clean and the nib is in perfect geometric condition, ready to write.
For complete transparency with bidders, two minor cosmetic flaws (visible in close-up photos) are to be noted:
• A slight local alteration of the gold plating on the upper end of the clip (along the top of the curve).
• A micro-surface imperfection on the far bottom of the body (near the terminal piece).
Apart from these two points, the resin retains all its luster and shows no other impact or deep scratches. The cap screw mechanism operates smoothly.
Contents of the sale (Full Set):
• The Montegrappa 300 fountain pen (18k gold nib)
• Its original box
• Its presentation/outer box
• The instruction/service booklet (stamp-free)
• Feed: Operates with international-standard cartridges or a converter (not supplied).
• A superb writing piece, ideal to form a cohesive set with the ballpoint model or for any admirer of classic Italian nibs.
Shipping: Careful and secure shipping with tracking.
