Description from the seller
Colorful and early work by Broer Dubbelsteen.
Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 60 x 60 cm
Provenance: Private collection, Netherlands
Broer Dobbelsteen born as Johannes Anthonius (Johan) van den Dobbelsteen (Mierlo, 1936 – 2019) studied at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven. In the first years after his graduation he still worked as a designer but from 1964 he worked as a full-time artist. His work was characterized by primary colours and large fields, rugged forms and a playful approach to the subject. He belonged to the expressionist movement, which largely shaped the face of the first half of the twentieth century. Experimentation, spontaneity and freedom were used as the main principles. The use of bright colours and simple forms is typical for Dobbelsteen's work. He was partly inspired by the Cobra movement. His paintings are widely represented among institutions, art dealers, galleries and private collectors.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore we make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, please let us know.
