Tere Ormazabal, born in Bilbao, Spain.
Artistic photographer with extensive experience in creation, teaching and institutional collaboration.
She holds a degree in Geography and History from the UPV-EHU, and has developed work focused on artistic photography and on alternative techniques such as cyanotype, Van Dyke brown, liquid emulsion, lithographic film, and image transfers both Polaroid and digital-emulsion transfers.
Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and cultural centers of the Basque Country since the late 1990s and has received national photography awards.
Detail of the work:
This work is transfer number 0499.
emulsion size 27 x 41.5 cm. Paper size 46 x 58 cm
Unique piece, signed by the artist on the front of the photograph.
Includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
High-quality print with pigmented ink that guarantees a museum-quality finish and ensures it remains unaltered over time.
The print is carefully packaged with protective material to ensure proper conservation during transport.
Description of the digital emulsion transfer technique
It is a technique I have personally developed, inspired by the classic emulsion transfer of Polaroid instant film, but adapted to a digital workflow.
It consists of printing an image with pigment inks on a prepared support so that, when immersed in cold water, the ink layer (the emulsion) can separate and be manually transferred to a high-quality art paper. During the process the image is manipulated directly, generating slight variations, textures and folds that make each copy a unique piece.
Transfers can be made in different sizes—from up to A2—and in color or black and white. The result combines digital precision with an artisanal finish, with an image protected by a film that covers it, so it does not scratch easily and offers good durability.
