Description from the seller
Arnaldo Pomodoro was born in Montefeltro in 1926, he lived his childhood and training in Pesaro. Since 1954 he lives and works in Milan. His works of the Fifties are bas-reliefs where a very singular “writing” appears, new to sculpture, which is interpreted in various ways by the major critics. In the early sixties he tackles three-dimensionality and develops research on the forms of solid geometry: spheres, discs, pyramids, cones, columns, cubes—in polished bronze—are pierced, corroded, hollowed from within, with the aim of breaking their perfection and uncovering the mystery contained inside. The formal contrast between the smooth perfection of the geometric form and the chaotic complexity of the interior will henceforth be a constant in Pomodoro’s production.
Emblematic and very rare work of the master, the visual and technical quality employed for the piece is of exceptional level.
The number of the edition may not correspond to the number in the photograph.
The provenance of the work is from the Galleria Grafica Manzoni, which issues its certificate of authenticity.
