This complete collection of stained-glass style mirrors is the first version of "The Four Seasons" designed by the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) in 1896. It is an exceptionally hard-to-find collection in this mirror format and with this framing.
With reserve price!
Unique and exclusive: 4 mirrors in a "stained glass" style. This was the first set of decorative panels by Mucha and became one of his most popular Art Nouveau series. The titles: "Printemps, L'été, L'Automne and L'Hiver".
Alphonse Mucha created a series of posters titled "The Seasons" in 1896, which became one of his most iconic works. Each image in the series portrays a woman personifying a season of the year, with details that capture the essence of each period.
1. Spring: The woman is surrounded by blooming flowers, dressed in soft, pastel tones, symbolizing rebirth and the renewal of nature.
2. Summer: Generally depicted with warm, bright tones, the summer woman can be seen with wildflowers and wheat, symbolizing abundance and heat.
3. Autumn: Characterized by rich, earthy colors, such as reds and golds, the woman is often surrounded by fallen leaves and ripe fruit, representing the harvest.
4. Winter: The figure is wrapped in heavier clothing, with a cooler color palette, such as blues and whites, surrounded by snow and bare branches, symbolizing the stillness and cold of the season.
These works reflect Mucha's ability to combine decorative elements with human figures, creating harmonious compositions that capture the natural beauty of each season. He is known for his distinctive style, which strongly influenced graphic design and decorative art in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Reproductions of these works are quite popular and continue to be appreciated for their elegant, timeless style.
The frames are the originals, and both the frames and the artwork are in excellent condition for their age.
Please check the photos, thank you.
