After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a prolonged standstill for a while. Since December 2014 I resumed with the “two dimensions,” leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to rendering acrylic paintings.

I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I’m pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and actually existing.

For me, painting is “freezing time” at that exact moment; one of my paintings is often a faded memory and therefore my works are “worn, eroded by time.” Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are wall glimpses also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface.
Time inexorably passing is the main theme of my work.

Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I adore sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceptible to the touch as well as to the eye.

Recently, after several years in which my works were made from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I’m pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that, seen up close, seem to form a colorful abstract painting, but the farther you step back the more a portrait emerges from the many wooden discs painted.

Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner’s dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, become victims of violence.

Seller's Story

Born in 1974 I am self-taught. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long stop lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I have resumed with the “two dimensions” due to time and space constraints, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to creating acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes, but recently I’m pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me painting is to “freeze time” in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are “worn, eroded by time.” Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface. Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I adore sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceivable by touch and by sight. In this latest period, after several years in which my works were made from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use wooden discs painted and arranged in lines and grids with mathematical rigor that, when viewed up close, seem to form an abstract, colorful painting, but the farther you go, the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden discs. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce the faces of women, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report the fact that they are not the dolls of their partners and cannot be mistreated or, worse, become victims of violence.
