Description from the seller
Artist: Vittorio Altieri
Title: Dream Reflected
Technique: Oil on panel
Dimensions: 30 x 50 cm
The work presents itself as an evocative landscape composition of a geometrico-surreal matrix, characterized by a rigorous stylization of forms that recalls the suspended atmospheres of magical realism and the volumetric decompositions of synthetic cubism.
In the center of the canvas emerges a village of geometric houses, defined by white and gray facades and roofs in saturated hues (bright red and sky blue). The windows and openings, reduced to slits and black, minimalist rectangles, heighten the sense of impenetrability and mystery of the place. The village extends along a fine strip of yellow ochre earth, on which rises, bottom left, the slender black silhouette of a walking human figure, the only dynamic and narrative element in an otherwise immobile setting.
The surrounding nature is rendered through pure, sinuous volumes: trees and hills take on ogival and perfectly hemispherical shapes, rendered in vibrant tones of green, ochre, brown, and a deep violet in the foreground.
The scene is dominated by a night sky of intense, tactile blue, within which float two strongly symbolic and dreamlike elements:
On the left, a full white moon disk, perfectly white and without details, radiating a metaphysical light.
Beside it, a striped white and purple hot air balloon, which drifts lightly, introducing a strong dreamlike and evasive component.
The entire composition finds a symmetrical duplication in the lower part of the painting, where a still body of water faithfully reflects, but with slightly darker and more rarefied tones, the architectures, the human figure, and the vegetation, doubling the space and amplifying the state of calm and temporal suspension. The artist's signature, "V. Altieri", is visible in the bottom left, integrated into the golden bank of the river.
