The artist Bernd Lieven photographs gardens, time-worn and nature-reclaimed industrial spaces. He originally develops on a canvas coated with photographic emulsion subjects that, through overpainting with a subjective tonal nuance, create a new reality.
In the photographic series of the "Frozen Leaves", "Under Water Leaves", the "Water Lilies" and the "Night Flowers", forms of states of various plants are analyzed, telling of becoming and passing.
His depictions of industrial ruins and garden complexes, in their abandonment or neglect, simultaneously reflect a connection between the past and the future.
Born in Mönchengladbach
Studied Fine Art at the Cologne University of the Arts
Master student of Prof. Karl Marx
Numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad that deal with the reciprocal relationship between photography and painting.
