Description from the seller
Dimensions: 80 × 120 cm
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
The artwork is shipped unframed and unstretched, carefully rolled inside a protective tube to ensure safe delivery.
Strata #7 is a contemporary abstract acrylic painting defined by a deep blue field and a network of fine incised lines. These lines divide the surface into intersecting planes, suggesting a constructed territory somewhere between landscape, map and structure.
A warm yellow block anchors the left side of the composition, balanced by smaller red and blue geometric forms distributed across the canvas. These elements act as visual markers, creating rhythm, distance and spatial tension within the dark field.
At the base, a red horizontal band gives the painting weight and closure. The surface remains quiet and restrained, yet the contrast between deep blue, pale linear divisions and intense color blocks gives the work a strong visual presence.
A piece about balance, direction and silent structure.
About the artist
Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer, trained in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. He lived in Miami until 2013, where he ran his own studio, and later in Barcelona, where he participated in exhibitions at the Royal Artistic Circle. In 2017, he presented a work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and has also collaborated with MACBA.
His current work develops a language of Structural Metaphysical Painting: abstract territories built through layers, incised lines, suspended planes and silent geometric presences.
In this new stage, Valch’s paintings explore the point where landscape, structure and consciousness begin to intersect. Series such as Strata, Fault Lines and Ground Frequency approach the canvas as a field of sedimented time, tectonic tension and vibration before language.
Rather than depicting places, his paintings construct primordial territories. Lines, blocks, thresholds and horizon-like divisions act as markers of perception, suggesting the emergence of awareness from the ground itself.
His work is quiet but charged: reduced in gesture, precise in structure, and focused on the invisible forces that organize space, memory and perception.
Many of his works are accompanied by original poetic texts written by the artist.
