This is an authentic lithograph titled “S PRINTEMPS” by the internationally acclaimed Japanese abstract artist Kumi Sugai (1919–1996).
The work belongs to Sugai’s celebrated “S” series, one of the most iconic motifs of his career. The “S” symbolizes both the artist’s surname and the concept of speed, reflecting the dynamism, rhythm, and modernity that characterize his mature artistic language.
After relocating to Paris in the 1950s, Sugai developed a distinctive visual style that successfully merged Eastern precision with Western geometric abstraction.
