Description from the seller
Tomasz Sętowski
Born in 1961 in Częstochowa, a painter associated mainly with the surrealism and magical realism movements. He studied art at the Higher School of Pedagogy in Częstochowa. Since 1991 he has been a member of ZPAP. He claims to be a painting autodidact, with formal education giving him only technical basics, and he arrived at his extremely distinctive style through his own explorations. His works have been presented at numerous solo and group exhibitions, such as the widely popular traveling exhibition “Polish Surrealists.” The artist primarily creates paintings using oil, acrylic, and gouache. In addition, he produces graphic art in traditional techniques – etching and soft-ground aquatint. Tomasz Sętowski – Fantastic Painting The painter belongs to the so-called magical realism, whose roots lie in the surrealism of the previous century. In Sętowski’s oeuvre, however, it is strongly processed and builds an individual solution with clearly defined stylistic features. The central composition usually features a figure, most often female. The artist subjects it to many modifications and metamorphoses. He incorporates elements of landscapes or even entire multi-level cities that expand and form incredible, illusionistic constructions. Sętowski combines various elements known from daily life and, with their help, creates fairy-tale cities reminiscent of amazing fantasy worlds, full of supernatural creatures, forces, and magic. Tomasz Sętowski - Offer of paintings Works by Tomasz Sętowski enjoy great popularity among collectors worldwide. They are particularly attractive due to their original form and interesting style. Behind the growing interest in the paintings goes also the price – the works gain value with each passing year.
