Ernst Lang (XX) - Am Starnbergersee

Ernst Lang (German landscape painter, active in Munich in the first half of the 20th century).
Title/Subject: “At the Starnberger See” (titled on the back) (see image_4.png & image_6.png). Idyllic foothill landscape with a view over the lake to the mountains, a boat in the foreground, a woman walker in traditional dress, and a chapel with an onion-dome tower (see image.png & image_3.png).
Period: Early 20th century (c. 1920s / 1930s).
Origin country: Germany.
Technique: Oil on wood panel / painting board.
Signature: Bottom right signed “ERNST LANG” (see detail view image_1.png).
Condition:
Painting: Good, age-appropriate original condition. Nice color retention, slight vertical craquelé or drying lines in the wooden ground visible, which give the work a charming, authentic antique character (see image_3.png).
Frame: Magnificent, baroque-styled ornate frame with stucco decorations and gilding. The frame shows minor signs of aging and minimal scuffing, but remains in a very decorative condition and is supplied as a free bonus (see image.png).
