Antique Victorian tobacco pipe in original case – E.W. Payne (Bromley) Ltd., ca. 1900
Antique English gentlemen's pipe in the rare tortoiseshell-look case – jeweller quality from E.W. Payne
For sale is an exclusive antique tobacco pipe in a bespoke collector's case from the turn-of-the-century period (Edwardian / late Victorian era).
Special features:
The pipe bowl/head: darkly polished with intricate, hand-engraved ornaments and flowing spiral patterns.
The mouthpiece: elegant, light-colored mouthpiece (likely bone, meerschaum, or early Bakelite) with subtle, authentic aging discolourations.
The case: a precise folding case with an elegant outer shell in tortoiseshell look. The inside is padded with deep blue velvet.
Dealer imprint: Inside the inner lid sits the gold original stamp of the renowned London jeweller and clockmaker “E.W. Payne (Bromley) Ltd., High Street Bromley & Kent”. This attests to the high quality, as such pieces were offered at exclusive jewellers as luxury items for gentlemen at the time.
