Description from the seller
“Gralsburg (Montsalvat)”, Munich 1920 Hans Stadelmann
Atmospheric symbolic representation of a Grail castle in a wide mountainous landscape. On a monumental rock massif the castle complex rises above a mist-covered plain. In the foreground appears a single hiker or pilgrim figure with a staff beside a pack animal, creating a direct reference to the Grail and Parzival legend.
The work combines Romantic landscape painting with symbolic image ideas and, through the restrained color palette and the spatial depth, generates an exceptional mood.
