Description from the seller

Pair of collectible cigar boxes.
The first is a splendid wooden box from the first half of the 1800s; measures 25 x 15 x 4 cm and weighs about 200 g. The lid shows a refined engraved crest characterized by iconography typical of heraldry and vintage design.

Two rampant lions grasp and support the central shield. In the center there is an oval medallion enclosed by a dense decorative monogram of intertwined letters (probably the initials of the producer or the house, among which the letters “E” and “C” seem to stand out). At the top rises a stylized crest with floral and vegetal motifs, while the base is decorated with intertwined laurel or oak branches.

This box could be an early prototype of the famous Cuban production C. E. Beck y Ca., a well-known cigar producer and importer operating in the second half of the 19th century; or more likely an autonomous production by a family-run company, but with noble characteristics. Anyway, a dated piece, very curious and particular… a piece to discover.
The surface shows a beautiful antique patina, with the characteristic vertical wood grain and light signs of time that enhance its authenticity and historic charm, as well as pencil notes on the bottom and inside.

The second is a cigar box with width 13 cm, length 10 cm, height 5 cm and weight 222 g. It is made of wood and covered in leather, with finishes in gold leaf. Very distinctive is the decoration made with marbles of different quality and with the scagliola technique that depicts cigars, typical of Florentine production. On the bottom is the Italian production stamp. The patina is original and the leather shows some scratches and signs from use.

Excellent preserved and both with original patina, they are a splendid testament to the past and at the same time valuable antique objects of great collecting value.

The photos are to be considered an integral part of the description; shipping will be fast and insured for the full value. We do not ship outside Europe. At the end of the auction please check the message center where you will receive photos of the packaging and instructions for receipt.
