Description from the seller
Lajos Kassák - Composition / Kompózitió
Linocut - handsigned - 1960-65. The original dates from the 1960s and was shown during the Paris exhibitions at Denise René.
It is a rare print on red cardboard and was part of a limited edition from the Panderma Verlag from the late 1960s: “Texte und Manifeste” in a edition of only 300 copies. It was never framed and comes from the estate of Carl Laszlo. The condition is very good. There is a slight crease at the lower left edge.
Lajos Kassák (March 21, 1887 – July 22, 1967) was a Hungarian poet, writer, painter, typographer, sculptor, essayist, editor, theorist of the avant-garde, and occasional translator. He is regarded as the primus inter pares (Carl Laszlo 1966) of major art styles of European modernism (Constructivism, Futurism, Bauhaus, De Stijl, Abstraction-Création).
Edition Panderma Carl Laszlo: Carl Laszlo (Hungarian László Károly; July 16, 1923 in Pécs; died November 8, 2013 in Basel) was a Hungarian-Swiss art dealer, collector, psychoanalyst, and author. He is regarded as one of the most important collectors, connoisseurs, and promoters of modern (especially Hungarian) art after 1945.
