In her still lifes, Mariska Karto reveals, in a quiet and dreamlike manner, the connection between our visible reality and another, unseen world. Her work invites the viewer to slow down and pay attention; to enter a moment of stillness in which the ordinary takes on a mysterious and meaningful presence.

She builds elaborate sets with great attention to detail and integrates her other artistic passions: charcoal drawing, working with gold, textiles, and advanced image editing.
