Frame size 23 h. x 32 w. cm.
Size of heliogravure 10.8 h. x 19 w. cm.

The heliogravure was printed and published in 1927 by his wife. A. Zernike-Mankes and Roland Holst.

The engraving is in excellent condition and is supplied with a matching off-white colored passe-partout in the shown frame.

A great Dutch master artist who unfortunately died at only 31.
His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly in small formats, about 100 drawings, and over 40 sheets of graphic art, mainly etchings and woodcuts.

Jan Mankes entered art history as a “Holland’s most tranquil painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making around his artistry."
