Description from the seller
POND STORIES
Original painting, part of a series about the tranquil life in ponds, small water pools with many plants, water lilies, fish and other creatures. Oil on raw linen with a transparent priming.
The red fishes and koi carp I paint float lightly with their sinuous and elegant movements. The fish as a universal archetypal element, as a link between diverse worlds, as an expression of the flow of life. Fast and fleeting like clouds and thoughts, they embody the delicate balance between serenity and vital impulse. The pond water is only suggested.
I am interested in the boundary between the real world and the surreal world of my constantly transforming aquatic landscapes. www.valeriapesce.com

ABOUT ME
Born in Italy, on the island of Sardinia, in 1963, after a stay in New York to study graphic design and then in Milan for 2 years, I moved to Barcelona in 1991 to work as a graphic designer and here I began my artistic career which over time has become my profession, my passion and above all a vital necessity.
I have held solo and group exhibitions in several European cities and my works are in various private collections around the world.
My work is deeply rooted in nature and human emotions; my star subject is water and fish, two visual universes that share an intense symbolic meaning. The fascination with the fluidity and dynamism of water acts as a guiding thread of my creations and symbolizes constant transformation.
