Description from the seller

IMPORTANT VINTAGE ART GLASS VASE FROM MURANO – ATTRIBUTABLE TO A.Ve.M. / SEGUSO VETRI D’ARTE – 1970s-1980s

Large and scenographic vase in artistic Murano glass, blown, produced probably between the 1970s and 1980s of the 20th century.

The work stands out for its significant dimensions (height 33 cm) and for its considerable weight of about 3.2 kg, features that attest to a processing carried out with a large amount of glassy material and substantial thicknesses. Particularly evident is the massive base, considerably thicker than the upper part, an element that provides stability, grandeur, and optical depth to the entire composition.

The vase presents a refined multi-layer structure, obtained through the overlapping of transparent glass color ametista-mauve and gold metallic inclusions dispersed in the glass mass. When backlit, these inclusions generate a suggestive three-dimensional cellular and speckled effect, especially sought after in Murano production from the second half of the 20th century.

Of particular interest is the presence of five authentic multicolor murrine genuinely embedded in the glass during the work. Four murrine feature the same star motif in shades of red, white, and orange, while a fifth, different, shows a concentric bull’s-eye pattern. The choice to use a limited number of murrine as a design element rather than as a dominant decoration recalls some of the most interesting artistic experiments developed in Murano in the 1970s.

The balance among ametista glass, gold inclusions, and multicolor murrine gives the piece a strong decorative personality and a stylistic language referable to the best Murano tradition of the period.

For technical characteristics, aesthetic approach, and craftsmanship quality, the vase appears attributable to the production sphere of A.Ve.M. (Arte Vetraria Muranese) or Seguso Vetri d’Arte, furnaces that during that period developed important research on the combined use of murrine, colored glass, and decorative metallic inclusions. Even in the absence of a signature or original label, the quality of workmanship, the presence of authentic embedded murrine, and the complexity of the glass structure place the piece in the context of high-level Murano artistic production.
