Along with the work, the catalog of the Fabbri Award is also sent.
"Erasing Exercises" (2017–2019) is a well-known photography and mixed-media project by the Italian artist and photographer Ludovica Bastianini. The work explores themes of manipulating historical memory, the power of communication, and the erasure of identity through the reinterpretation of archival images and historical texts.
The project stems from a deep reflection on how political and economic powers have always modified, reinvented, and manipulated their symbols throughout history. The starting point: Bastianini uses as material a textbook of ancient art history, a cornerstone of the visual language of the Western world.
The critique of power: The artist highlights how official history is never an objective account, but a continual rewriting dictated by the media and the dominant institutions.
