Frame size 32 h. x 23 w. cm.
Size of the heliogravure 17 h. x 14 w. cm.

The heliogravure was printed and published in 1923 by his wife. A. Zernike-Mankes and Roland Holst.

The engraving is in excellent condition and is supplied with a matching cream-colored matte in the pictured frame.

A great Dutch master painter who unfortunately lived only 31 years. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly small formats, around 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of graphic art, mainly etching and woodcuts.

Jan Mankes went into art history as “Holland’s most tranquil painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making surrounding his artistry.
