Description from the seller

A0000005415

The piece is machined by combining a high-density black precious resin body with a gold-filled metal cap. It is imperative to highlight the deep integrity of the body, which preserves its original black and a deep, uniform shine. In the rigor of collecting, this condition is the irrefutable witness of exceptional care, confirming that the piece has not been subjected to abrupt torsions nor shows fatigue cracks from thermal stress.

What is truly exceptional about this specimen is the unusual preservation of its gold-plated cap and its chased finish (the tactile pattern of fine, wavy lines that runs across it). Unlike the vast majority of metal caps of its generation, which typically exhibit severe wear from wear due to continuous handling (handling wear or brassing), the guilloché on this piece remains remarkably crisp, preserving its original tactility without material loss.

The imprints (manufacturer engravings) corroborate this excellent level of cosmetic conservation. The perimeter stamping on the cap band, including the legend "MONTBLANC - MASTERPIECE", shows outstanding depth. Likewise, the engravings stamped on the blind cap indicating the model "642" and the unusual point thickness "EEF" are perfectly legible at a glance, all crowned by the iconic white star (snowcap) intact at the top of the cap.

At the level of technical and operational architecture, the piece stands out for having undergone rigorous functional restoration (full service), elevating it from a display item to a fully operational instrument:

Writing group: It mounts its nib made of solid 14-karat gold (14CT/585) bi-tone. The geometry of the tines is symmetric, free of stress cracks (fissures por fatiga) and with excellent retention in its prized solid iridium point of extra-extra fine cut (EEF).

Filling mechanism (Piston-filler): The rotating collar seats flush with the barrel and operates with the correct tension and no play. Unlike pieces found "in a drawer", this example has received professional service that includes lubrication and refurbishment of the interior piston seal.

Operational condition: The fountain pen is in perfect working order (ready to write). The filling system creates the proper vacuum to absorb and retain ink, guaranteeing capillarity and a constant flow toward its original grooved feeder (flat feed).

In synthesis, we are looking at a pen catalogued at a high collector and user grade. It is a structurally and aesthetically integral specimen, meticulously tuned, ready to be incorporated immediately into the future custodian’s daily writing rotation.

It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.

Happy bidding!
