Höfner Verythin HCT: Back to the Sixties with Modern Comfort
With the Verythin series hollow body guitars, Höfner breathes new life into classic designs. The HCT-VTH-D-B is a reissue of the iconic Verythin semi-acoustic guitars from the sixties. This Verythin HCT (Contemporary) stands out for its very thin body at only 32 mm, which, despite its large size, offers the playing comfort of a solid-body electric guitar. The guitar features several classic details, including Höfner’s traditional striped position markers.
Höfner Verythin HCT: Less Feedback, More Sustain
The neck, top plate, and the sides and back of the Verythin HCT are made of figured maple and finished with a transparent brown lacquer. The arched top and back not only strengthen the construction but also give the guitar an elegant appearance. Inside the hollow body cavity sits a solid spruce strut, the ‘center block,’ which enhances sustain, reduces unwanted feedback, and gives the guitar a deeper tone. Thanks to this construction and wood choices, the Höfner Verythin HCT produces a surprisingly loud and clear sound.
The main differences from the Deluxe (HCT-VTH-D)
• Unique pickup combination: The Deluxe models with dual humbuckers, with split function
• for tighter rock work.
• Alternative body shape: The Deluxe variants have a slightly more compact, redesigned body surface (often 14 inches wide instead of the traditional larger body), but retain the extremely comfortable thickness of only 32 mm.
Key specifications and features
• Body: Laminated maple for the sides and back. The resonant body is extremely shallow (1.25 inches / ~3 cm).
• Neck: Glued maple neck with the comfortable, slim "Slendaneck" profile.
• Fretboard: Jatoba or rosewood with 22 frets.
• Electronics: Equipped with two Höfner "Vintage Voice" humbuckers, ideal for a warm but clear sound.
• Hardware: Traditional bridge with a guitar or tailpiece

Elements and Hardware
The Verythin HCT is equipped with two full-size Höfner humbucker pickups. This makes the guitar not only deliver the characteristic 60s sound but also a wide range of tones, from spicy blues to heavy rock distortion. Each pickup has its own volume and tone controls for maximum sound control.
Both humbuckers can be split via Push/Pull on both volume knobs, giving you even more tonal possibilities, and it has new pots and wiring.
The hardware consists of a fully adjustable ‘Tune-o-matic’ bridge with tailpiece and a set of stylish oil bath tuners with mother-of-pearl knobs.

This Hofner Contemporary Series Verythin Standard D has been set up by me for very comfortable playability and optimal tone.
It has undergone a full maintenance service.
