Title: "Homecoming into the Unknown"
Description:
There are paths we do not choose, but which call us back at some point. Not to a specific place, but to a feeling, a memory, or a part of ourselves we have long neglected.
"Homecoming into the Unknown" speaks of this quiet moment between the familiar and the new. The deep blues feel like layers of memories that surface and then fade away. Nothing is clearly defined, and yet something familiar seems to shine through the surfaces and textures. Like a landscape you think you know, even though you’re seeing it for the first time.
The painting invites you to lean into what is not immediately explainable. It reminds us that homecoming does not always mean returning to the original starting point. Sometimes it means venturing into unknown terrain and rediscovering something essential about ourselves.
Between depth and light, closeness and distance, a space of quiet encounter emerges—a place where questions matter more than answers and where the unknown does not feel threatening, but full of possibilities.
-
The *cracks in the painting are intentionally deliberate*. They are not a sign of damage, but part of the artistic expression. The breaks belong to the surface as scars belong to the skin: they tell of tension, movement, and the process itself. Precisely through these cracks the work gains depth and authenticity—nothing is smoothed out, nothing hidden.
The canvas is delivered rolled.
Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, mainly created with acrylic paints. Originating from St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld, Prein’s pieces are often characterized by a minimalist, abstract style and are carefully crafted from high-quality materials to ensure vivid colors and longevity. In his art, he frequently engages themes such as identity, memory, and the exploration of human emotions, often pushing the boundaries between the visible and the invisible.
Prein's approach to art is multidimensional, combining painting with elements of sculpture and installation. This unique style has earned him recognition in Austria and internationally, with exhibitions across Europe, North America, and Asia. His works often invite viewers to contemplate the complexity of the modern world and the deeper aspects of the human experience.
For a painting measuring 200 x 100 cm, a canvas frame of 190 x 90 cm with a thickness of 2–4 cm is required.
You can then either stretch the canvas yourself or have it stretched by an artisan or gallery.
This is a handmade original, signed by the artist on the back and dated.
High-quality, lightfast acrylic paints have been used on multiple-primed gallery canvas.
A varnish has also been applied to protect the work.
This work is handmade and therefore unique!
--- Hand-signed certificate included ---
Beautify your private residence, law firm, practice, or office and elevate your spaces in an elegant and stylish way.
When a person ventures into his innermost depths, into a sphere that rarely comes to light, into a space that is mysteriously hidden, waiting to be discovered, tickled awake, even painfully uplifted, then art is born.
