Don Ken (1956) presents Today, a 190 × 190 cm mixed‑technique on panel in Pop Art style, an original edition hand‑signed artwork from Belgium, dating to the 1990s, sold by Galerie with provenance from a private collection in the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
Mixed media on panel by Don Ken (1956).
His work is characterized by a universal appeal and a playful, yet deeply insightful approach to themes.
An important aspect of his oeuvre is the integration of cartoon figures from Walt Disney and Warner Bros., for which he obtained an exclusive license from these film studios at the beginning of his career.
These figures function not only as icons of Western culture, but also as projections of social and societal behaviours.
Don Ken manages to combine his own vision and themes with these recognizable characters, creating an intriguing duality.
Dimensions: 190 x 190 cm
Shipping after the auction can be arranged
Provenance: Private collection, The Netherlands
Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the industry association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to use this service, we would of course be pleased to hear from you.
