Description from the seller
Zanova is the stage name of Lionel CHEVALIER, born in Rennes in 1970. He lives and works in Saint-Malo; passionate about painting from a very young age, it was around the age of 16 that he took off by deciding to devote himself to this discipline. Lionel Chevalier is in continual search for movement, at the threshold of abstraction, with a very personal style: he excels notably around the theme of the sea: ships, sailing boats, coastal landscapes, etc. With a palette that is both colorful and deep, he takes us into a structured world where life seems frozen in a conventional and soothing harmony. Each brushstroke seems evident and makes the whole perfectly credible and natural. His work is characterized by an important play of textures, ranging from thickly layered coats to more fluid paint, and while you can sense the influence of Nicolas de Staël especially through his abstract seascapes, it is above all his intimate world that inspires him.”} ahi to end. continuous dialogue.
