Meta Plückebaum (1876 - 1945) was a German painter of animals, flowers and portraits as well as a graphic artist from Dortmund. She was married to Carl Plückebaum, who was also a well-known artist. They lived in Düsseldorf and worked there together in a studio. Meta Plückebaum painted, drew and etched especially charming cat, dog puppy and flower motifs, which to this day enjoy great popularity—not only in Europe but also in the United States. In the feline-art scene she is regarded as the best-known German cat artist of the 20th century. In particular, her cat etchings and paintings are considered popular collector’s items.
