An original woodblock print by renowned Japanese printmaker Gashu Fukami, titled "Under the Sun". This vibrant composition exemplifies the artist’s distinctive visual language, characterized by bold outlines, simplified forms, and luminous color harmonies. The work depicts a symbolic and dreamlike scene beneath a radiant sun, conveying warmth, serenity, and a playful sense of imagination.
Fukami’s woodblock prints are celebrated for their unique fusion of traditional Japanese printmaking techniques and modern design sensibilities. His works often feature animals, nature, and poetic everyday moments rendered with expressive shapes and rich layered colors.

Gashu Fukami (1953–2023) was a Japanese woodblock print artist born in Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto Prefecture. After graduating from Doshisha University, he studied woodblock printing in Kyoto and later continued his artistic research in Boston, USA. He held his first solo exhibition in Kyoto in 1983 and subsequently lived and worked in Nagasaki and Fukuoka. Throughout his career, Fukami exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions across Japan. His works are admired for their warm, lyrical atmosphere and distinctive graphic style.
