Miljenko Bengez's work arises from a deep impulse: to rediscover, through color and form, that connection with nature and with lived spaces that urban frenzy tends to erase.

His compositions root themselves in the landscapes of Istria and Croatia — territories that are not merely painterly subjects, but sensoral memories, Mediterranean atmospheres imprinted in the very material of the painting.

Bengez dialogues with the great masters of the European lyrical tradition — from Cézanne to Klee — without imitating them: he traverses them, reworks them, contaminates them with Cubism, Expressionism and Tachisme, building a completely personal visual language.

The result is works that do not describe reality, but interpret it: crystalline compositions, dense with light and rhythm, capable of evoking serenity, joy and beauty even in the context of the contemporary world. A visual antidote to urban chaos.
