Description from the seller
EL SILLÓN DE LA ABUELA is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, a domestic interior becomes a stage charged with memory and calm. At the center of the composition, a black rocking chair occupies the main space of the room. On its seat, a small cat rests calmly, reinforcing the atmosphere of silence and rest that surrounds the scene.
Next to the chair, a large ceramic vase decorated with a bouquet of leaves and flowers provides freshness and movement to the whole. The contrast between the intense red of the wall, the cool blue of the door, and the bright white of the frames creates a vibrant chromatic structure that organizes the interior space.
The rocking chair, a traditional object associated with rest and everyday home life, acts as a symbol of presence and memory. Although the human figure does not appear in the painting, its absence is felt through the object, as if the chair kept the memory of the one who used to sit there. The brushwork is direct and expressive, with defined planes of color that simplify forms without losing the sense of volume and depth. The presence of the cat introduces an element of intimacy and tranquil life that balances the chromatic intensity of the surroundings.
El Sillón de la Abuela is a work about home, memory and the small gestures of everyday life. A serene scene where objects preserve the silent mark of time and of the people who have inhabited the space.
