Ranger is a J-Class monohull, built for American magnate Harold Stirling Vanderbilt. He was the last in this class to be laid down to compete in the America's Cup.
Its designers were Starling Burgess and Olin Stephens, and it was built of riveted steel at Bath Iron Works shipyards in Maine, United States.
