Title of the work: Pinocchio (from the series "Pinocchio: Open-Air Book")
Year of creation / print: 1973
Specific technique: Original vintage litho-screen print (mixed art-printing technique that combines the softness of lithography with the brilliance of screen colors). material: Fine Rosaspina Fabriano paper of large format 70x100, exceptionally limited edition of only 12 copies in the world.
Signature and numbering: The copy numbered in pencil 1/12. Hand-signed by the artist.
Provenance: Private collection of the artist (Luigi Pasquali), preserved with care for decades.
• References to catalogs and publications: The work is historically documented and published in the official period catalog entitled "Contact: Art/Città" (Contact: Art/City), prepared for the XV Milan Triennale of 1973 and published by La Nuova Foglio.
• Authenticity notes and certificates: The work is sold with a sale declaration and legitimate provenance between private individuals signed by the seller. As an additional and extraordinary historical guarantee of authenticity of the entire block, two of the graphics "sisters" belonging to the same and identical folder (1/12) bear on the back the official State stamp of the Aosta Customs Office - Office of Writings of 1973, which legally certifies the cross-border passage of Corneille's works for the Milan exhibition of 1973. (the photos of the historical catalog and the back stamped of the sister works are provided as documentary material of the lot).
• Condition: Good overall preservation for its age, the colors are vivid and the Rosaspina paper has retained its wonderful texture.
• Signs of handling / Defects: Only a slight crease in the bottom-right white margin is noted (the card is not torn or damaged, the fiber is intact and it is only marked by time). The defect has been photographed up close and clearly highlighted in the lot images for maximum transparency to buyers. No yellowing or significant blooming.
"This monumental work (70 x 100) belongs to one of the highest and most poetic moments of European avant-garde in Italy. Created by Corneille, co-founder of the famous CoBrA Group, it is part of the cycle 'Pinocchio: Open-Air Book' conceived for the Arts/Cities section of the historic XV Milan Triennale of 1973 in Parco Sempione. The artist's style expresses here his greatest lyrical power: through strong lines and a childlike and vibrant chromatic palette inspired by primitive inspiration, Corneille reinterprets the tale of Pinocchio transforming it into a universal, free, and joyful visual narrative. A rare piece on the market, especially in such an exclusive edition (1x12).
