Description

The Forgotten Muse is an original bronze sculpture depicting a young female figure emerging from a rough and fragmented form. The work explores themes of memory, beauty, impermanence, and the traces left by time.

A defining feature of this sculpture is its deliberately unfinished appearance. Rather than concealing the casting process, the work embraces it. The original casting funnel (sprue) remains visible as an integral part of the composition, and impressions from the disposable casting cup used during the bronze pour have been preserved in the base. These elements reveal the sculpture's making and create a direct connection between the finished artwork and its creation.

The contrast between the refined facial features and the raw, textured surfaces emphasizes the tension between form and dissolution, presence and absence. Areas of naturalistic modelling coexist with rough passages that retain evidence of the casting process, giving the piece a strong tactile and expressive character.

The sculpture is finished with a multi-layered patina in bronze, brown, and verdigris tones, highlighting the texture and enhancing the aged, archaeological quality of the work.
