Description from the seller
An extraordinary and iconic work by Mario Schifano (1934–1998), one of the absolute pioneers of European Pop Art and of the Piazza del Popolo School. This piece belongs to his famous and highly sought-after series of "Tele/Foto Computerizzate"—hand-retouched photographs taken from television screens. Schifano isolates a transient mediated image, transforming an ephemeral television broadcast into a lyrical and permanent artistic statement through dynamic and energetic marks of colored enamel. A conceptually impactful work, museum-worthy, that perfectly reflects Schifano's obsession with contemporary media and visual flows. Its high liquidity and strong demand from collectors make it a premier addition to any modern art collection.
The work is archived at the Mario Schifano Archive cataloged at the M.S. Multistudio Foundation from 1985 to 1997, Volume V°, and published on page 123 reference F9097-2338 and in the Telemarket catalog on page 339, of which a color photocopy will be provided. Documents from the Foundation and catalog publication photos are attached.
The lot will be adequately packaged and shipped with affiliated couriers and online tracking. For this lot, shipments outside the European Community are not performed.
