Description from the seller
This is an oil painting on canvas by Matthieu Wiegman. It concerns a portrait of a seated woman with her hands folded. The composition is carefully constructed and exudes a calm, balanced atmosphere.
Later, Matthieu Wiegman, together with Leo Gestel and Arnout Colnot, would grow to become one of the leading representatives of the Bergense School. His brother, Piet Wiegman, was also part of this circle of artists. In the work of both brothers, the influence of Paul Cézanne is clearly recognizable.
Dimensions: 100 x 80 cm
Dimensions with frame: 118 x 100 cm
Signed in the bottom right
Provenance: Private collection, The Netherlands
Viewings are of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house frame-making workshop, celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
