Description from the seller
Oliver Plehn (Germany, 1970)
Gorila I – 2026
Acrylic and oil on canvas
100 × 81 cm
Sitting on a surface barely suggested and clinging to a rope, this great ape dominates the pictorial space with a serene and monumental presence. His elevated gaze and the firmness of his posture convey a sense of dignity, introspection and silent strength.
The reduced palette of grays, blacks and soft warm tones directs all attention to the expression and the corporeality of the animal. Beyond a naturalistic representation, the work explores deeply human emotions such as vulnerability, resilience and identity.
Created in 2026, this painting is part of Oliver Plehn's artistic research on the emotional bonds between humans and the animal world.
The work is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity. For security reasons, the canvas will be carefully sent rolled in a sturdy tube.
