Albert (Ab) Torringa was born in Haarlem on August 12, 1886 and died on April 9, 1963 in Bloemendaal. Ab, as Albert is called, spent his whole life in or around Haarlem. He initially earned his living as a plasterer. It was around 1942 when he began to make a living by creating paintings. How he learned the art of painting is unclear. That he produced many paintings is now well known. Often he created several paintings with the same subject, which then differed from each other in details.
